Suffolk Police Force

The Suffolk Police Constabulary is responsible for Suffolk in East Anglia, England. It has an area of more than 939000 acres, with a population of around 678000 people. The area is mostly rural and coastal. The force has two territorial areas: Eastern and Western. The Eastern area Headquarter is located at Halesworth, while the Western’s is at Bury St. Edmunds.

The force was formed by the merging of West Suffolk Constabulary and East Suffolk Constabulary. These forces merged in 1869 and separated in 1899. In 1967, they joined forces again, and included the Ipswich borough police force this time.

The Suffolk Constabulary’s Vision and Mission are centred at keeping Suffolk safe, while ensuring that the community value and trust what they do. To be able to stay true to this, they vow to be highly responsible to local needs and to respond to calls for assistance as quickly as possible. They work hand in hand with their partners in order to build strong, safe, and cohesive communities. They continue to find ways to deliver a high level of performance and to improve their service to keep up with the demands of the modern times.

Preventing and reducing crime is a major part of Suffolk Constabulary’s work in the community. Together with their partners, they have launched several initiatives that are aimed at deterring offenders and decreasing incidents of crime.

The police force vows to deliver the highest quality of service to the people in their jurisdiction, and to form a relationship with them that is characterized by trust and friendship. To do this, they also ensure transparency in the way they spend the public’s money by making the best use of their funds which they spend to provide the quality of service the community deserves. They value the people they protect, thus they make it a point to treat everyone with fairness and respect, to be open and honest, to listen and be responsive, and to act with integrity at all times.
