Grampian Police

Responsible for the protection and safety against crime and terrorism of a diverse population that reaches 530,000 residing in a total area of 3,373 square miles, the Grampian Police is  the territorial police force of the northeast region of Scotland. The force covers the council areas of  Aberdeenshire, City of Aberdeen and Moray also known as the former Grampian region.

Aside from the people and its land area, the Grampian Police also has a lead role in incidents on off shore installations in Scottish areas of the North Sea, irrespective of which police area the installation is situated. This is because of the Grampian's extensive experience on offshore incidents. Other than that, the railway system, regional defence matters and most of all the statute of law and order in the Grampian Police are all huge responsibilities of the force.

History of the Grampian Police

The North Eastern force of Scotland was already established way back in the 16th of May 1949 by the merger of Aberdeenshire Constabulary, Banffshire Constabulary, Kincardineshire Constabulary and Moray and Nairn Constabulary. It was only in May 16, 1975 when the Grampian region was created and the merger of the North Eastern force and  the Aberdeen City Police has led to the creation of the Grampian Police.
