Fife Constabulary

The Fife Constabulary is a Scotland Police Force that covers an area of 1,325 square kilometers and provides quality service to over 350,000 people. It is divided into three Territorial divisions namely: Western Division, Central Division and Eastern Division.

All headed by a Chief Superintendent and a Superintendent, the three territorial divisions are all unique in their own ways in terms of people, geography and economy. Because of this, it's quite a challenge for the Force as a whole to adjust with the public's demands on security and protection.

Home to the Scottish Police College at Tullallan Castlel, Kincardine-on-Forth, the Western Division holds responsibility for 133,000 of the whole population covered by the Fife Constabulary and its headquarters is in Dunfermline. On the other hand, the with its headquarters in Kirkcaldy, the Central division has the most densely populated area of 148,000 residents while the Eastern Division has the largest land area yet the smallest population with just 69,000. It's headquarters is located in Cupar. The Fife Constabulary is composed of towns and boroughs such as Aberdour, Anstruther, Auchtermuchty, Ballingry, Burntisland, Cardenden, Cowdenbeath, Cupar, Dalgety Bay, Glenrothes, Inverkeithing, Kelty, Kennoway, Kincardine, Leven, Levenmouth, Lochgelly, Oakley, Rosyth, Tayport and Wormit.

The Fife Constabulary Then and Now

It was in the year of 1949 when the amalgamation of the originally independent Fife County, Dunferlime City and Kirkcaldy Burgh Police forces established the Fife Constabulary. The force started with only a total of 345 officers and 26 civilian staff and only dealt with an average of seven thousand crimes and offences in a year.

Today the Fife Constabulary holds a sum of 1027 sworn Officers assisted by 119 Special Constables and approximately 538 civilian staff. Annually, the force deals with an average of 65,000 crimes annualy.

With a force area that presents a challenge in terms of people, geography and economy, the Fife Constabulary's main goal is to ensure a safer community. Being able to provide this kind of service means that people can daily economic and social choices without the fear of becoming a victim of crime or of feeling unsafe. This alone can help build a strong and successful society.

Along with the local organisations and the community's cooperation, the Fife Constabulary aims to work hand in hand in promoting public programs and enhancing their line of skills through public services. Some of these include Alcohol liaison, Commercial Security, Computer Crime, Community Sex Offender Disclosure and many more.

With the force's motto, Taking Policing Closer to Community, the Fife Constabulary continues to improve and excel in the field of protecting the people.
